Fiesta ST - Modifying a Line Output Converter (06/2016)
A Line Output Converter is a simple device that converts a speaker output into a line-level signal. Read this article for more information on the topic.
The Celcus LOC is great value- isolated adjustable outputs for less than £7! One feature missing from it though is a ground connection which some amplifiers will require to reduce noise such as hum. I wanted to add one as it’s better to have one and not need it than the other way round… Upon opening it up to have a look, I was pleasantly surprised at how easy this mod is to do.
WARNING: Following the connection of the ground wire to the source, the outputs are no longer isolated! Perform this modification at your own risk.
This Celsus branded LOC was bought through The Amazon Marketplace, from Car Audio Warehouse. Click on the picture to link to the product page.

It seems that this unit is available from a few different manufacturers; the case looks identical apart from the branding. This modification MAY or MAY NOT work for those units.

Use a flat blade screwdriver or pry tool to remove the back. The PCB has an unpopulated plated through-hole labeled GND on the top silkscreen and bottom copper.

Solder a [different coloured] wire to GND. I used 20 AWG multi-strand cable; flexibility is important so don’t use solid core. Reassemble the unit. Job done.
